GET TO KNOW MILAH.
- One thing people might not know about you?
One thing that a lot of people don’t know about me is that one of my favourite activities
is mountain biking. I learned how to ride a bike when I was four, and my dad started to
take me mountain biking when I was eight. As well as it being a great sport, and form of
exercise, it is also my favorite way to spend time with my dad. After years of listening to
me cry about riding up the hills, I am finally faster than him. I love how it feels to be out
in the forest, and not having to think or worry about anything else.
- What is your Favorite film or book?
I have always loved books, and reading is one of my favorite pastimes. My favourite
book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It is about a young girl whose foster parents
hide a Jewish man in their basement during world war two. It is the most beautifully
written book I have ever read, with an ending that made me cry. It is also one of the
only books that I have read more than once, and still felt the same as the first time.
- What was your favorite trip you’ve taken?
When I was twelve my family took a vacation to Italy and we spent two weeks of the trip
in Rome. I don’t have that much traveling experience to compare it to, but Rome was
the most fascinating city I have ever been in. I loved absolutely everything, from the
beautiful art and sculptures in the Vatican City, to all the little alleyways in the streets of
Rome. I wanted to spend the rest of my life walking around the city, and eating gelato
twice a day. Although I love traveling and want to travel to other parts of the world, I
would be so tempted to just return to Italy.
- What is one thing you have always wanted to learn or know how to do?
Something that I have always wanted to do is to learn how to scuba-dive. Growing up in
British Columbia, I have always loved the ocean. I love how peaceful swimming in the
ocean feels and how incredible it is underneath the surface. I have spent many hours
during past summers with my friends and cousins snorkeling at the beach. I am very
interested in marine biology and have always thought going on a scuba-dive would be
fascinating.
- What is your biggest motivation?
I think that having goals and taking the time to reach them is so important in life. I am
motivated by knowing my own potential and abilities in school and sports. I know how
much I am capable of achieving by working hard and accepting challenges. My parents
also motivate me to push myself and to take all the opportunities that I’m given.
Whenever I am unsure about something, they are there to remind me of the benefits. I
am also motivated to do something that matters, or makes a difference. I want to go to
university and go into the medical field, because it's a career that would give me that
opportunity.
