GET TO KNOW KANE.
- Favourite quote.
I have so many, I love literature and reading. But this one has sat with me for a long time, and I think helps describe my philosophy “I had a discussion with a great master in Japan, and we were talking about the various people who are working to translate the Zen books into English, and he said, “That’s a waste of time. If you really understand Zen, you can use any book. You could use the Bible. You could use Alice in Wonderland. You could use the dictionary, because the sound of the rain needs no translation.” -Alan Watts
It means that Zen or the state of Zen is not a teaching to be obtained, it’s a practice of living. a constant state of being that is felt and therefore individual in its expressions.
- What is one thing you have always wanted to learn?
Surfing! Tried it for the first time this year, really enjoyed it. First off, I love being in the water and second, each wave is like an ever-changing challenge. You must swim out and battle against the swell, then you must read and time them correctly and if this is done properly you get this amazing moment in synchronicity with a force of nature.
- Who do you look up to & admire.
A lot of people but I have a particular fondness for Aldous Huxley and Carl Jung. They write great books and have a serious contribution to the overall knowledge of human existence.
